The Second Winter School of the Dead Sea Research Venue (DESERVE) will be held from 4 to 15 December 2016 at Madaba, Jordan.
Target group are young researchers from universities, and research institutions, in particular Master and PhD students, with specific interest in the Dead Sea region.
After an introduction on the Dead Sea region, the Winter School will focus on sinkholes, seismicity and hydrogeology. The participants will benefit from a close combination of theory and praxis. For instance, the seismological software ‘SeisComP 3’ will be introduced. Shear-wave reflection seismics and aerial photography will be applied to identify and characterize sinkholes.
The Winter School is free of charge. The granting of credit points (ECTS) is possible.
