On 4 April 2013, Prof. Christoph Kottmeier (scientific speaker of DESERVE) presented DESERVE at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris. The workshop, co-organized by the German embassy, discussed potential Israeli-Palestinian scientific cooperation in the framework of UNESCO. The workshop took place in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian Science Organization (IPSO) founded by Israeli and Palestinian scientists in 2004/2005. IPSO promotes joint Israeli-Palestinian research projects. The focus is on water, a scarce natural resource in the Middle East, which needs to be managed jointly.
